This video is the second in our series on Repentance. In this presentation, we learn that the modern Church views Christianity as a Religious Performance “for” Christ, rather than a Loving Relationship “with” Christ. As a result, we Christians generally relate to God through perfectionistic penance, and we become obsessed with the person we see in the mirror.
In Modern Penance:
- Perfectionistic self-obsession has replaced the person and work of Christ.
- “Performing to Promote Ourselves” has replaced “Relationship with God through King Jesus.”
- Personal displays of religious performance have replaced the love of God.
- Behavior modification to exalt ourselves has replaced heart affection for King Jesus.
This is not the way of the gospel. This is not the way of love. This is not the way of our Glorious King. No. The way of the Gospel is Repentance and Faith – which could be defined as, “Turning to, and relying on, our Union with King Jesus so that our relationship with him expresses itself in love.”
Our next video in this series will be called” “Repentance: A Change of Affection“. In that lesson, we’ll take a close look at the beautiful and life giving nature of Repentance and Faith. Be on the lookout for that video. It should be available to you next month.
Blessings to you all, and above all remember this:
Christ in you is the Hope of Glory!
