7 / Beautiful Attractive God

Valley of Vision.pngMy God, Your grace is like a magnet – drawing me to all that is truly attractive. And what I find truly attractive is most beautiful in you

  • I am attracted to honor and rejoicing – I find these things most beautiful in you
  • I am attracted to glory and virtue – I find these things most beautiful in you
  • I am attracted to seeing the hand of Deity in the created world – I find these things most beautiful in you as I see you speaking, acting, filling, and shining forth in all that you have made.

I find nothing good, unless you make it so
I stand near to nothing good, unless I stand near to you

Your grace is like a magnet – drawing me to all that is truly attractive. And what I find truly attractive is most beautiful in you. So…

  • Draw me to your will, even when it crosses against my comfort
  • Draw me to your pleasures, even when it causes me pain
  • Draw me to your companionship, and to feel your presence in fire, and food, and every provision
  • Draw me to your gifts and graces, and to see them as your hands and fingers taking hold of me

Endlessly Attractive Savior. Bottomless Beautiful Fountain of Grace.

  • Responding to your love, I desire to give myself to you
  • Responding to your love, I want all that I have to be yours
  • Responding to your love, I wish to surrender my goods, my family, my church, myself

Take all of these things and honor yourself so that all my lesser attractions are yielded to you
Reveal your true beauty to my blind and ignorant heart
Take away all my wretched taste for foul affections that delight my fleshly tongue
And make yourself more attractive than everything else I see

Draw me to your beauty, Glorious Trinitarian God
By your Spirit, Draw me to your face O Father
Draw me to the grace of your Son

Your grace is like a magnet, O Christ – drawing me to all that is truly attractive. And what I find truly attractive is most beautiful in you

Amen
